Rides - Membership - Membership Fees - Other Fees RidesThe FLSC does not have a formal glider ride program. However, the exception in recent years has been the NY State Balloon Festival in Dansville in late August/Early September. The club ceases normal operations that weekend and provides rides in connection with the Festival. This has been a great source of revenue of help keep our membership dues low and often is the opportunity that one or two of the many riders need to experience the thrill of soaring.... so that they will come back to join the club. For those interested in joining the club we offer three-lesson Introductory Memberships for $120. This offers three instructional flights to allow the rider to access his or her interest in soaring and the FLSC. MembershipThe Finger Lakes Soaring Club ("FLSC") is a New York not-for-profit corporation formed in 1949 to promote the sport of soaring. In addition to full membership, FLSC offers three-month Student Memberships, three-lesson Introductory Memberships and low cost Junior Memberships (for students under the age of 18). Membership is open to anyone genuinely interested in soaring and participating in a cooperative club environmnt. No previous experience is necessary. To insure reasonable access to the Club's equipment, FLSC currently limits itself to 60 regular members. Members are expected to participate in Club operations. This may include helping to launch sailplanes, working on Club equipment and facilities, or working as a towpilot or glider flight instructor, depending on an individual's abilities. Because all FLSC members are expected to work for the club, we are able to keep costs low. In addition, members are required to join the Soaring Society of America , which has annual dues of $64. For further information call or e-mail any of the individuals on the FLSC Contact Info Page on this web site or use the e-mail link ( ) on the home page. Our hanger telephone number is (585)335-5849 but is only answered when there is flying activity or you catch someone at the hanger doing maintance on the aircraft (in other words...this "hit or miss").
